Goldstar is a website that offers half-price tickets for Broadway plays, concerts, theater, comedy, sporting events music, performing arts, special meals and even rodeos and wine tastings. If you use them once, I doubt that you will ever pay full price for tickets again.
To view the events in your area, just create a free account HERE and then search by selecting your city. Then you can check out the savings and the current tickets available. Set up your account to receive emails for the events that you are interested in. You can sort by date, category, venue, and even read reviews and get helpful tips from other members.
You get a confirmation email after you purchase your tickets and in most cases, you pick them up at Will Call. In some cases, the tickets are mailed to you. The tickets are provided by the venue, the same as if you bought them directly from their box office. There is a surcharge to use the service and it varies by event, but it is much cheaper than the surcharge you will pay through Ticketmaster or similar services.
Unless you are a frequent ticket-buyer, you don’t need the premium service called Red Velvet. Just stick with the free account. I set up my account to receive a weekly email for half-price tickets and deals in my area. Here are a few examples, (I live in Southern California.)
Disney on Ice - full price $27.00, Goldstar price $14.50.
Young Frankenstein, The Musical -full price $45.00 -$70.00, Goldstar price $22.50 – $35.00.
Selected LA Dodger baseball tickets -full price $32-$77, Goldstar price $17-$40
Selected LA Angels of Anaheim baseball tickets -full price $28 – $34, Goldstar price $14 – $20
Selected Comedy Club performances -full price $15 -$22, Goldstar $7.50 -$11
There are also many local regional tickets that you can buy for events with many prices under $10. This is great for a “staycation.”
