Did you know there is an organization that will fly World War II Vets to Washington DC for free to visit the World War II Memorial?

The organization is called the Honor Flight Network . They have flown 110,000 vets mostly in their 80’s and 90’s to the World War II Memorial since it opened in 2004.

You can watch a film about it called Honor Flight, the Movie which is available on demand through iTunes or Amazon.

I read about this in Parade Magazine, May 26th 2013

The Greatest Generation is leaving us. If you know of a World War II vet who would be blessed by this opportunity, please pass it on and please come back and share the story with us!

This was a real highlight for my Dad before he passed away a few years ago. My sister Lynn and her husband took Dad, in a wheelchair. Students and tourists thanked him and took photos with him. Next week I will be visiting the memorial with my family. My goal is to thank every World War II vet that I see- hopefully without crying like I did the last time.
