When the rightful owners of merchandise are not identified, many agencies offer items for an online auction through They also operate where citizens can register any lost or stolen items reported to their local police department. will search its database and will return the item(s) to the police department where the theft or loss was reported so that the merchandise can be returned to its rightful owner.(For – look at the very bottom of the website.)

Buyers pay for the shipping unless they choose to pick up their merchandise at their warehouses in Long Island, New York and or Los Angeles. splits the proceeds with the agencies and the percentage they keep depends on how much the items sells for. Most of the merchandise is sold for less than $1,000.
