Decorating on a Dime: A Peaceful Bedroom- No Need to Getaway if You Live Here!
My clever friend Mindy, from Mindy Laven Interiors recently completed a master bedroom project and created a haven of beauty and rest, without spending very much money. You will be surprised!
She has such a knack for colors, groupings, and creating an atmosphere.
Her design philosophy? Simple neutrals with a hint of color, quality materials for a luxurious feeling.
If you follow Mindy, you will notice that she loves layered rugs to ground a room, mirrors, (usually large),and a chandelier for some sparkle.
“When doing a bedroom, the aesthetic is the most important thing. A bedroom should be a retreat, a place of respite from the world. Luxury sheets are a necessity. My personal favorite for sheets is Sferra. These are Beautiful, Italian cotton sheets. The 600 thread count feels like satin against your skin. Once you go with Italian sheets, you’ll never go back. These are pricey, but you know I’m a girl who loves a deal. This set actually came from Tuesday Morning for about one tenth of the regular price.  My rule of thumb on sheets is that they should always be white. It’s crisp, clean and relaxing and reminds me of some of my favorite hotels! The embroidered euro squares are also from Tuesday Morning. They are Peacock Alley and were an amazing score at $14.99 each, regularly priced at @ $100!
The duvet cover, shams and bed-skirt here are Belgian Linen from Restoration Hardware. The best part about them…..they were on clearance!
The pillows are velvet,  filled with down and along with the rug, came from Home Goods!
Her goal for this room was to create the most luxurious feeling possible for the very least amount of money. I’d call this: Mission Accomplished!
If you’re looking to create a million dollar room on a everyday budget, it can be done. For more design inspiration, head over to her lovely blog at Mindy Laven Interiors!
