Are you hosting holiday parties at your home this year? Are you having overnight guests? If you want to get your home holiday ready, these quick fixes and expert tips will have you decking your halls, your family room, and bedrooms too!
And because I know you want to stretch your dollars, (especially this time of year!) I’m always on the hunt to bring you the most value.
I reached out to my friend, designer Mindy Laven from Mindy Laven Home with a wish list:
- show us some high-impact looks
- make it look like we paid way more than we did
- and we want free shipping on everything
A tall order? Not at all.
Mindy and I know each other very well. She brings the inspiration and I find the savings. We are sharing a source that we both love, Overstock.com for the inspiration and a Club O Membership for the savings.
Right now they are offering a $20 site credit on your next purchase when you join the Club O loyalty program, making this perk, free which is my favorite price.
Quick link: Club O Rewards Program
With Club O, not only do you get free shipping, you also get at least 5% in reward dollars on all purchases and up to 20% reward dollars on hundreds of select products. Don’t you just love a site credit?
Once you sign up for Club O then you can also shop for men’s women’s, kids, and baby items, jewelry, watches, electronics, pet items and so much more. The best part is that Club O rewards never expire and are available to use toward any item on Overstock.com.
Ready to get your home holiday ready?
According to Mindy, don’t be afraid to mix metallics, especially during the holiday season. It used to be frowned upon to use more than one finish in a room but today it is chic to combine them for maximum impact.
When accessorizing a room, use uneven numbers of 3, 5, or 7 items when displaying objects. Vary the height and don’t line up everything in a row. This trick will keep the eye moving and create interest.
If you change out all of your accessories for the holidays, be sure and take a picture first so you can put the room back together when the holiday decor gets put away.
Your entryway should make a great first impression. Some of Mindy’s favorite tips are adding a bench which can be accessorized for every season and can also double as extra seating when the company arrives.
Work in some texture with pillows and woven materials like a basket. Add a rug and some greenery.
Having overnight guests for the holidays? Pamper them with ultra soft sheets, a cozy duvet, and a memory foam mattress topper. You will find some great options on sale now in bedding.
Small details like a clock and a carafe of water will make them feel welcome. You can also give your bathroom a quick refresh with some new towels, a rug, a new shower curtain and some nice soaps.
I will be putting together a quick gift guide with some of my favorite gifts so stay tuned. Until then here is a link to the fab holiday home sale at Overstock.com.
Whether your style is modern, romantic or eclectic, you will find unique and affordable home furniture and decor to make your home a place that both you and your guests cannot wait to come home to!
OMG..could I please just have that home and decor? Everything looks stunning!
The selection at overstock is amazing. It was my go to store when I renovated my master bathroom.
Hey, we JUST bought a memory foam mattress topper and put it in our guest room! I guess we’re doing things exactly how we should be! Great post!

I am a minimalist through and through. This year we also have a toddler under foot so the decorations have to be secure!
These are really great tips for getting Holiday ready! We are always looking for great ways to prepare. I am going to have to try these.
I love all the prints and how well they can be combined without looking too busy. I need to give our living room a bit of a makeover for the holidays so I will definitely be keeping these tips in mind.

I’ve always been bad at decorating, but these prints are so cute together.
I love the greys and bright white. We currently rent but our landlord basically lets me have full control over the look. I started painting a few weeks ago and have added alot of greys throughout.
Love shopping Overstock. I just bought a rug for the girls room since we pulled their carpet up last weekend. Great service, fst shipping.
Great tips you got here. Thanks for putting it up. Amazing!
I love the designs you chose especially those in the bedroom. I would definitely be staying there!
This decor is just amazing! Love the idea of adding a bench to the entryway as it would be so useful in many ways. It’s just that we don’t have enough space for it.
Oh, my I love these combinations of color. I wish I have someone to help me decorate my house.
I’ve heard so many great things about Overstock.com, but I’ve not really bought much from there myself. I would definitely check it out though.
I am thinking of doing something else for my small living room and these tips came in handy! perfect timing! Thank you for sharing your ideas.
