Now that both of our children are grown, we empty nesters have more time to enjoy “spur of the moment” getaways. My husband had a business trip to Phoenix and I decided to tag along. As long as I have my laptop and a WiFi connection, I can work anywhere, so why not? I knew we could find some free time to see some sights and enjoy a change of scenery for a few days.
The fun began when we picked up our car. The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 2.4 GT 2WD is pretty darn handsome and the driver is not bad either. Seriously, isn’t it a nice looking SUV? I think the wheels and the front grill make it look really sporty and more “car-like.”
The car was really comfortable to ride in and also was fun to drive. The acceleration for merging and passing was strong and the inside noise was very minimal. The car has cruise control and a one-touch start/stop engine switch.
The headlights turn off and on automatically and the vehicle comes with keyless ignition and keyless entry which is a great safety feature when you don’t have to fumble for your keys.
The tilt and telescopic steering wheel is leather wrapped which made for comfortable driving. You can also access the FUSE hands-free Link System® with Bluetooth® technology USB port from the steering wheel, it is very state-of-the-art technology.
Mitsubishi Outlander Sport comes with automatic climate control with air filtration. We were very comfortable even in the Arizona heat.
Road warriors always appreciate a center console box with armrest and cup holders. The console area was well-designed.
The Outlander has a 6.1″ color touch panel display audio system a 6.1-in touchscreen. You’ll enjoy the 710-watt Rockford-Fosgate® premium sound with 9 speakers and Sirius XM Radio® with a 3-month subscription. From here you can access the rearview camera system which is a great safety feature, especially when getting in and out of tight spaces and parking lots.
Here is a fun photo I took while looking up through the large panoramic sunroof.
The seats have leather surfaces which feel very plush and the rear seats can be folded down individually. The driver seat has a 3-way power adjustable feature and both front seats can be heated. We didn’t need to test that feature out on this trip as the temperature neared 100 degrees.
I loved the automatic back hatch lift especially when we were carrying our luggage.
I’m an over-packer but the trunk had ample space.
The 2016 Outlander Sport 2.4 GT 2WD earned the highest five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The fuel economy is good with an average of 25 MPG and 28 MPG on the highway and it comes with a 10 year 100,000 powertrain warranty.
The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 2.4 GT 2WD has a base price of $25,995 and there are several other models you can choose from. If you are looking for a new SUV for your family or just for the two of you, take a look at the 2016 Outlander Sport.
Being from Los Angeles, we could not get over how friendly and courteous the Phoenix drivers were as we drove around and explored the city. It is definitely not something we are used to. We hope to return soon!
