Senior Travel Discounts and Baby Boomer Travel Discounts

Did you know that there are many travel discounts available not only for seniors but for baby boomer too? Getting older has its benefits!

The Starwood hotel chain ( includes Sheraton, Westin, W Hotels, Meridian, Four Points, St. Regis, and Element hotels) has a little known senior travel discount called “The Birth Year Rate.” You pay the going rate for the first night and on the second night and in most cases, the third night too, you only pay the rate of the year that you were born.

Here is how this would work for me in the Los Angeles area:

Stay at the Westin LA Airport and pay $199 the first night (today’s rate) and I would pay $57 for the second night and $57 for the third night.

Stay at the Four Points Westin in Los Angeles and pay $179 the first night (today’s rate) and I would pay $57 for the second night and $57  for the third night too.

So now you know, I was born in 1957. See how this works? The older you are, the less you pay and when you average in a 2 or 3 night stay, you can really save at some very nice hotels.

Here is the link to find a participating hotel. Book online, or from the US and Canada call (877) 762-0106 and use promo code NBR or ask for the “PAY YOUR AGE” promotion. This offer is valid at participating hotels for stays before December 31, 2014.

The offer is based upon availability. It is not a widely publicized promotion but I verified that it is still active. In some “rare” cases, I was told the fee is pay your age plus $100.
