Where to Cut Your Own Christmas Tree in Southern California

Haven’t you always wanted to walk through three feet of snow, find the perfect tree, cut it down, and haul it home for Christmas? For those of us who live in Southern California, the snow part of this fantasy isn’t really that appealing, but it would be nice to be able to take your family to a place where you can pick out and cut down a fresh Christmas tree.

If this sounds like the perfect new family tradition for you to start this year, you’ve come to the right place to find out how to make it happen. Believe it or not, there are more than 20 places in California that will allow you to fulfill this fantasy. Our friend Jilleen from SoCal Field Trips has the entire list for you, but here are a few of the most popular ones:

Nancy’s Ranch

25039 Magic Mountain Pkwy, Santa Clarita, CA 91355

The Roatcap family has been in the Christmas tree business for over 45 years. They grow  trees for you to choose and cut by importing and growing beautiful firs of all types from the Pacific Northwest.  You can choose from Noble, Fraser, Grand, Silver, Douglas and Nordmann firs. All their trees are guaranteed to stay fresh through Christmas.  Click here for a coupon for $5 off any tree purchase over $20.00.

Peltzer Pines – Brea Tree Farm

3400 Rose Drive, Brea, CA 92823

Here they have over 30 acres of fresh naturally growing Christmas trees.  You can choose from a traditional Monterey Pine or Leylandia tree.  The size, height, and quality will determine the price you pay for the tree.  You can also choose to cut down the tree yourself or have the staff cut it down for you.

Richfield Pines – The Christmas Tree Farm

5392 Richfield Road, Yorba Linda, CA 92886

Since 1977, generations of families have made Richfield Pines a Christmas tradition.  The farm has close to 10 acres of fresh, fragrant Monterrey Pines that come in all sizes.  They are reportedly the only Christmas tree farm in Orange County that has trees in the 15 feet – 26 foot size range.  You can either choose a tree and have their staff cut it down on the spot, or reserve a tree and have them cut it at a later date.  As a bonus, the farm gives out free boughs and other fresh green trim with the purchase any tree.

Mountain Pines Christmas Tree Farm

29932 Camino Capistrano, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675

Just off the 5 freeway between Avery and Junipero Serra, Mountain Pines is a tree farm that is a great place to choose the perfect tree. This family-owned business offers trees including the Leyland Cypress and the Monterey Pine.  Douglas, Fraser, Noble and Nordmann Firs are also available as pre-cut trees that come from a farm in Oregon.

These are just a few of the tree farms that are located in California. If you don’t see one that is close to you, head on over to SoCal Field Trips and see them all!
