Easy to Make Classic Broccoli Salad Recipe

This easy to make Broccoli Salad recipe is a great recipe to bring to a party. You may not need to go to the grocery store. You may already have the ingredients on hand.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 heads fresh broccoli , chopped in small pieces approx. 8 cups
  • 1 small yellow onion , sliced thin (can also use red onion if preferred)
  • 1/2 pound bacon you could use bacon bits but the bigger pieces of bacon are better
  • 1/2 cup almonds , sliced
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp milk (or cream)
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar can substitute apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar
  • 1 cup shredded cheese to sprinkle before serving (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Place bacon in a deep skillet and cook over medium-high heat until browned. Let it cool and crumble.
  • Cut the broccoli into bite-size pieces and cut the onion into thin bite-size slices.
  • In a large bowl combine broccoli, cooked bacon, sliced almonds (optional) and mix well.
  • Prepare the dressing by mixing the mayonnaise and milk until well combined, add the sugar, and stir.
  • Stir dressing into the broccoli mixture until well coated.
  • Chill the Broccoli Salad, serve it cold and enjoy!

Notes

  1. Add the vinegar to the mayonnaise mixture and whisk until smooth. (You may use more or less sugar according to taste.)
  2. If desired, you can add 1 cup of shredded cheese before serving.
