Course Drinks
Cuisine American
- 8-10 large fresh or frozen blackberries
- 3 tablespoons fresh basil , torn
- 1/4 cup honey preferably local
- 1/4 cup water
- 4 oz Elderflower liqueur (optional)
- 1 bottle (750 ml) chilled Prosecco
Optional Garnishes
- Fresh blackberries
- Sprigs of fresh basil
Get a small saucepan to combine the blackberries, torn basil, honey, and water. Set the heat to medium and let it simmer. Stir occasionally until the mixture is heated through and starts to thicken. Do this for about 4-5 minutes. Press gently on the blackberries with a spoon to release their juices.
Once thickened, remove the saucepan from the heat. Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the mixture into a bowl, discarding the solids. Allow the syrup to cool.
If you’re using an Elderflower liqueur, divide it among four champagne flutes. Add a drizzle of the cooled blackberry basil syrup to each glass, then top with chilled Prosecco.
For an extra touch, garnish each glass with 2-3 fresh blackberries and a sprig of basil. Serve immediately and enjoy the delightful flavors. Enjoy!
