This easy-to-make Classic Broccoli Salad recipe is a great dish to bring to a party. You may not need to go to the grocery store. You may already have the ingredients on hand making this a low-cost and tasty option to stretch your dollars.

Broccoli Salad Recipe Ingredients

Broccoli Salad Ingredients:

  • 2 heads fresh broccoli, chopped in small pieces, approximately 8 cups
  • 1 small onion, sliced thin (can also use red onion if preferred)
  • 1/2 pound bacon (you can use bacon bits instead but the bigger pieces of bacon are better in my opinion
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp milk or cream
  • 4 tbsp sugar 2 tbsp white vinegar (can substitute apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar)
  • optional – 1 cup of shredded cheese to sprinkle before serving

Instructions

Step 1: Place bacon in a deep skillet and cook over medium-high heat until browned. Let it cool and crumble it.

Step 2: Cut the broccoli into bite-size pieces and cut the onion into bite-size slices.

Step 3: In a large bowl, combine broccoli, cooked bacon, sliced almonds and mix well.

Step 4: Prepare the dressing by mixing the mayonnaise and milk until well combined, add the sugar, and stir. You can add the sugar a little at a time to your taste.

Note: Add the vinegar to the mayonnaise mixture and whisk until smooth.

Step 5: Stir dressing into the broccoli mixture until well coated.

Step 6: Chill the Broccoli Salad, serve it cold and enjoy!

Notes: If desired, you can add 1 cup of shredded cheese before serving.
