Santa Hat Game

You will need to have a Santa hat for each person. You can ask people to bring a Santa hat, so you don’t have to buy them . This will help save on some of the party expenses. You will need to have one prize for the winner.

Everyone starts by sitting in the same room where you can see and hear everyone. Then you will begin asking questions such as what is your least favorite food? What is a bad gift you received? What is your least favorite Christmas carol? Everyone participating gets to vote for the worst answer and that person loses their Santa hat.
The last person to have their hat on wins a prize. This makes a great icebreaker game and people enjoy this when the questions are fun and easy.

Gift Wrap Game

This is a sitting-down version of musical chairs using a gift (or two if you have a lot of people) and you will want to wrap this gift several times. It’s easier if you have different colors of wrapping paper so your guests will know where the new layers start. Everyone needs to sit in a circle, or two circles if you have a lot of people. Turn on your radio with some nice Christmas music. As the music plays the gifts are passed around the circle. When the music stops whoever is holding the gift should unwrap one layer. Start the music back up and the gift passing should continue. The game ends when someone unwraps the last layer and then they get to keep the prize.

Name That Christmas Tune

A Christmas version of Name That Tune. You’ll need a prize and a method to keep score. You will also need to have some different classic Christmas songs. Have everyone sit and listen to just a few bars of a Christmas carol. Keep it short a few seconds at the most.  Whoever yells the correct name the fastest gets a point. Whoever has the most points at the end of your contest keeps the prize.

White Elephant also known as Dirty Santa

Each participant brings a wrapped gift and is assigned a number which determines the order.

The player who has number #1 chooses a gift, unwraps it and holds it up.

The next player #2, can either steal it or choose a new one.

Everyone gets a turn and the person who was #1 gets a final turn to steal a gift or take the last one remaining.

Christmas Charades

Put a sticky note on the player’s forehead and have them try to guess what their team member is acting out. You can suggest Santa, reindeer, snowflakes, gingerbread men, Christmas trees and more while the teammates try to quickly guess what the pantomime represents.

Find Santa

This is a Christmas version of hiding Easter eggs. Before the party, get a number of small plastic or inexpensive Santa figures or other Christmas-themed small items. Some should be in obvious places, and some should be harder to find. Show a photo of what people should be looking for. If you have areas in your home that are off limits, be sure to let everyone know. Each Santa that is found can be exchanged for a small favor. Be sure to write down the number you hid so you know when they are all located!

How Many? Guessing Game

This game can be played in a few different ways. One way is to guess the total number of ornaments on your Christmas tree. Another way is to guess the total number of Christmas candies in a large bowl. Red & Green M&Ms or mini-marshmallows work great for this game. Be sure to count and write down the correct answer!

Right and Left Gift Passing Game

Write a story that will last a few minutes containing the words “left” and “right” many times. Here is an example:

Mr. Right said that his left hand was hurting. “Your right hand?” said Mrs. Right. “No, my left hand,” said Mr. Right.

All of the party participants should stand or sit in a circle, holding a small wrapped gift. You can ask your guests to bring a small wrapped gift and set a small dollar amount. While the host reads the story, each time the words “right” and “left” are read, the players pass the gift they are holding in that direction. When the story is done, the player gets to keep the gift that they are holding.
