My husband and I are empty-nesters now. Several times a year we enjoy getaways just a few hours from our home in Southern California. Recently we enjoyed a fabulous weekend as invited guests of the newly renovated Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, California, in the desert near Palm Springs.
We’ve been wanting to get away together and unwind. Just like you, it has been a challenging year and a half for us. We live in Orange County and the Palm Springs area is about a two-hour drive. It is the perfect location for a staycation.
The hotel has undergone a luxurious multimillion-dollar renovation of 560 guest rooms including 103 suites. In a word, it is gorgeous!
We stayed at the resort years ago. The first thing my husband said… “Why aren’t we coming here more often?”
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly valet parking staff and the helpful staff at the front desk. As the bellman brought our luggage up to our room, he gave us an overview of the property and told us about the extensive renovations.
As soon as you enter you’ll be dazzled by the multi-story lobby and grand staircase.
The Place Lobby Bar is the place to be. We enjoyed craft cocktails and delicious food while we watched football on the giant TVs.
Don’t we look relaxed?
After dinner, we sat outside and watched the sunset on the restaurant’s open terrace. It was magical and very romantic.
Our room was spacious with dedicated spaces for relaxing, working, and sleeping. We enjoyed the contemporary casual feeling with a nod to the glamor of old Palm Springs.
The bed was very comfortable made up with down comforters and duvets. We did not watch much TV but I noticed it also has streaming service apps such as Netflix and Hulu.
We loved the delicious welcome gift. We were spoiled!
Look at the beautiful view of the pool area and the Santa Rosa Mountains from our private balcony. We knew this was going to be an exceptional weekend.
Who would not appreciate double sinks in the bathroom? I also loved the dual showerheads. They included all of the nice touches in the bathroom.
See the nod to old Palm Springs with vintage photographs on the wallpaper in the separate water closet.
The pool is a showstopper. We remembered the sandy beach from our last visit. It now includes oversized cabanas, and power ports if you want to work or charge your phone in the pool area.
I could not resist taking a photo next to the stunning waterfall in the pool area.
While exploring the property, the Mediterranean-inspired grounds had surprises at every turn, There are lakes, gardens, and fountains to enjoy.
The perfect spot for a desert wedding!
Hit the links at the Renaissance’s two 18-hole golf courses.
The next time we stay, we will check out the state-of-the-art fitness center and the Spa Esmeralda. Both look amazing!
The kids can enjoy Camp Esmeralda with activities Friday to Sunday.
If you are a Marriot Bonvoy member, you will enjoy the added perks including mobile check-in and checkout and late checkout. Trust me, you will be reluctant to leave the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa.
