Ingredients for Easy Homemade Frozen Watermelon Slush

  • 6 cups seedless watermelon, cut into small chunks and frozen
  • 2 cups chilled brewed Tazo® Passion® tea (or water)*
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey, preferably local
  • 2 tablespoons fresh mint
  • 6-8 large ice cubes (optional)
  • 4-6 oz. premium vodka (optional)

Garnish (optional)

  • Sprigs of fresh mint
  • Small watermelon wedges

*Tip: While optional, using Tazo® Passion® tea gives this drink a unique, vibrant flavor compared to plain water.

How to Make This Easy Homemade Frozen Watermelon Slush

#1. Add frozen watermelon, chilled tea (or water), lime juice, honey, and fresh mint to a high-powered blender. Blend on high until smooth and thoroughly combined, about 2-3 minutes. For a frostier texture, add ice cubes and blend again until you reach your desired consistency.

#2. Pour the watermelon mixture into four chilled glasses. For an adult version, top each glass with 1 to 1½ oz. of premium vodka.

#3. Garnish with fresh mint sprigs and small watermelon wedges, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy this refreshing summer treat!

Storing and Freezing Tips for Leftover Watermelon Slush

Refrigeration

Store leftover watermelon slush in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours to maintain freshness and prevent odor absorption. However, the texture is best when served immediately, as it may become watery over time.

Freezing

Pour the slush into ice cube trays or freezer-safe containers, leaving room for expansion. Freeze for up to 1 month. When ready to enjoy, thaw in the refrigerator and blend again briefly to restore the slushy texture. Avoid repeated thawing and refreezing to maintain quality.

Additional Tips

Use airtight containers or freezer bags to prevent freezer burn and label with the date. Flash-freezing watermelon chunks or juice before storage helps prevent clumping and preserves flavor.
