Nordstrom Rack is one of my favorite places to find a good deal on designer items. Here, you’ll find much of what you’ll find at a regular Nordstrom store (clothes, shoes, accessories, cosmetics, and home décor) but at the best discounted prices.

What’s the Difference between Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack?

Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack offer a unique shopping experience but are under the same brand: Nordstrom.

Nordstrom department stores feature new arrivals of high-end and well-known brands, especially designer clothing, accessories, and beauty products. You’ll also find one of their best selling points, their styling services. It also offers curbside pickup while Nordstrom Rack does not.

Nordstrom Rack features discounts of up to 70% for off-price retailers. It’s also where you can spot the best deals on a wide range of products from top brands from previous seasons. It’s a part of Nordstrom where all the discount items end up. A stark difference between both stores that you’ll notice is the lack of amenities and services (alterations, tailoring, restaurants, coffee bars, and bra fittings) at Nordstrom Rack stores. There are 346 stores present in 41 of the United States. They do monthly Clear the Rack sales while Nordstrom only has two big sales in a year: Nordstrom Black Friday Sale and Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

Whenever I’m doing online shopping for new clothes, one of my favorite Nordstrom Rack sales is checking items featured in their Flash Events. These items are available for a limited time and you’ll find the expiry date indicating the time left for your days of purchase. Here’s a sample of today’s current deals:

Get Great Items at a Discounted Price

If you are patient and willing to do a little digging, eventually all the discounted unsold items from Nordstrom department stores end up at Nordstrom Rack with discounts up to 70% and are mostly still in good condition. You’ll often find killer deals from famous designer brands like Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Steve Madden, and more!

However, if the tag says Nordstrom Rack then that item is not from a full-price Nordstrom store, that item was made for Nordstrom Rack. There are about 3x as many Nordstrom Rack stores compared to Nordstrom department stores so you can understand that there would not be enough merchandise from Nordstrom to stock the Nordstrom Rack stores.

Easy Shopping Experience

The good news is their online store is easy to shop so you can score deals on your phone or laptop. I like to find possibilities and add them to my cart but just know, they may not stay in your cart for long, so be sure to check a Nordstrom Rack Location near you!

Watch Out for Sale Events

Be sure to mark your calendar for the Nordstrom Rack Black Friday Sale and be on the lookout for their Clear the Rack sales, which typically happen once a month. You’ll surely get a great deal at these sale events!

In addition to deep discounts on clothing, shoes, and accessories, it’s a good place to shop for fragrances and makeup from brands such as MAC, Stila, and Urban Decay. Hair products like shampoo, conditioner, leave-in products, and hairspray can yield savings.

Are you looking for a gift for a friend or loved one? Gifts Under $25 is my favorite place from the Nordstrom Rack website! Currently, there are over 800 items available in this section.

Check Altered or Refinished Items

Check out the Altered or Refinished designer items from Nordstrom. This can easily be spotted as items in this category have a standard white Nordstrom Rack price tag. The best way to get a great deal in this category is to ensure they’re in good condition!

Join the Nordy Club

Nordstrom’s loyalty program is called the Nordy Club, and the perks work for Nordstrom Rack shoppers too. Join and you will earn one point for every dollar you spend and two points for every dollar you spend using a Nordstrom credit or debit card. Accumulate 10,000 points and you’ll get a $10 “Note” (aka a gift card) while 20,000 points will get you $20 to spend at the retailer. It’s free to join and can be used on both online and in-store purchases. Nordy Club Members also get early notice and exclusive access to Clear the Rack sales.

You can also return items from Nordstrom Department Stores to Nordstrom Rack stores. Take note that beauty items are final sale unless stated otherwise. According to this page, “Items purchased online must be returned by 40 days after order date and items purchased in stores must be returned by 30 days after purchase.” If you are a Nordy Club Member, you won’t need a receipt, they can look up your purchase (love that!).
